Choose the right dosage form
Use rhodiola preferably as a standardized extract in capsules. This ensures accurate dosing and keeps the active compounds protected during transport.
Daily dose and splitting
Aim for a total intake of 200-600 mg per day and split this into two portions (morning and midday) to achieve an even effect.
Timing of intake
Before meals. Take rhodiola about 20-30 minutes before breakfast and before lunch to improve the absorption of the active constituents.
Start with a low dose
On first use, start with around 100 mg daily to check your personal tolerance and increase the dose only if well tolerated.
Higher doses for pronounced exhaustion
In cases of marked fatigue or exhaustion, doses up to 600 mg daily are used. Such amounts should only be taken after consultation with healthcare professionals.
Observe the maximum upper limit
Do not exceed 680 mg per day. This limit should not be surpassed without medical supervision.
Dosage for athletes
To support performance, 100-200 mg twice daily is often recommended, for example before morning and midday training sessions.
Realistic expectations for onset and duration
Many report noticeable effects within 30 minutes that last four to six hours. For chronic stress, however, it may take days to weeks of regular use before changes become apparent.
Duration of use and pause rules
Use rhodiola ideally in courses of up to four months and then take at least one month off to prevent diminished effects.
Watch for possible side effects such as dizziness, dry mouth or gastrointestinal complaints. Choose high-quality preparations, ideally standardized (e.g. approx. 3 % Rosavin and 0.8-1 % Salidrosid). Reduce or stop intake if problems occur.
