Reduce intake of acid-forming foods
Limit consumption of animal products such as meat, cheese and processed meats, as well as acid-forming plant foods like grains and legumes to 20–30% of your meals. These can increase acid production in the body and should therefore be enjoyed in moderation.
Choose an alkaline-rich diet
Ensure that 70–80% of your daily diet consists of mineral-rich plant foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and potatoes. These support alkaline effects and help bring the body's pH back into balance.
Avoid carbonated drinks
Drinks such as lemonade, cola, juices and energy drinks increase the acid load in the body. Instead, drink mineral water or herbal teas to reduce excess acidity.
Avoid alcohol, sugar and white flour
These treats impede the natural elimination of acids and promote acidity. Alcohol places a particular burden on the liver, while sugar raises blood glucose levels, making acid removal more difficult. Choose base-friendly alternatives instead.
Use the power of bitter foods
Foods like artichokes and grapefruits contain bitter compounds that can stimulate liver function. This supports the effective elimination of acids via metabolism in a natural way.
Support your body with baking soda
A teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in a glass of water neutralizes excess acids very effectively. This home remedy can provide quick relief, especially after a heavy meal, when feeling bloated or experiencing heartburn.
Improve oxygen supply to your cells
Regular exercise increases oxygen delivery to the body's cells and thus supports the metabolism responsible for detoxification and acid elimination. Find an activity you enjoy – this helps you stick with it long term.
Sweat intentionally to eliminate acids
Sauna visits or physical exercise stimulate sweating. Through this natural route your body expels excess acids and contributes to a better acid–base balance.
Actively reduce stress
Stress impairs your metabolism and slows breathing, which reduces acid elimination. Regularly practise relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation to restore your balance.
Drink at least two to three litres of water or herbal tea daily to support kidney function and improve the elimination of acids through urine.
