Eyelash care

10 ways to stronger, more supple lashes

Long, well-maintained lashes make the eyes appear larger and give depth and expression to any look. But mascara, rubbing or incorrect makeup removal can weaken the fine hairs. With targeted care you can promote natural growth and visibly strengthen your lashes. Are you ready to give your lashes new bounce and shine?
  • Clean your lashes daily

Lashes collect dirt, dust and makeup particles every day. A gentle cleanse prevents residue from building up and clogging the delicate hair follicles. Use micellar water or an oil-based eye makeup remover, place the pad on the closed eye for 10 seconds and glide gently over the lashes — never rub. This helps prevent breakage and lash loss and creates the foundation for healthy, stronger lashes.

  • Use an eyelash primer for protection and volume

A primer is more than a styling product — it acts like a protective coat. Its gel-like formula wraps each lash, nourishes with panthenol or vitamin E and also extends the wear of your mascara. The result: lashes that look fuller and well cared for and feel supple all day long.

  • Care for your lashes regularly with a serum

A good lash serum nourishes the hair roots, adds moisture and strengthens lash structure. Products with biotin, peptides or hyaluronic acid extend the lashes' growth phase and increase density. Apply the serum in the evening along the lash line — after 6 to 8 weeks the results become visible: fuller, stronger, shinier lashes.

  • Use home remedies with immediate effect

Natural oils are true beauty boosters. Castor oil supports lash growth, almond oil provides moisture and coconut oil protects against drying out. Apply a small amount at night with a clean brush and leave it on overnight. After just a few weeks your lashes will appear denser, softer and more resilient.

  • Choose a mascara with nourishing properties

Many mascaras today actively care for lashes. Formulas with aloe vera, argan oil or shea butter hydrate lashes and prevent drying. Make sure your mascara is fragrance-free and ophthalmologist-tested — especially if you have sensitive eyes. That way you enhance your look without stressing the lashes.

  • Use waterproof mascara only when needed

Waterproof products are practical, but they put more strain on lashes. Harsh formulations can dry out the hairs and make them brittle when removed. Use them only for special occasions — for everyday use a nourishing, non-waterproof version is the better choice. Afterwards, be sure to follow up with a nourishing serum or oil.

  • Use the eyelash curler correctly

Eyelash curlers are perfect for making straight lashes look longer. But correct use is crucial: use the curler before applying mascara, not after, to avoid breakage. Slight warming with a hairdryer intensifies the effect — but be careful: the curler must never be hot. This way you achieve a gentle, long-lasting curl.

  • Pay attention to hygiene

Bacteria can quickly accumulate in your mascara and cause infections or irritation. Replace the product at least every three months and clean the wand regularly. Lash combs or applicators should also be rinsed once a week with mild soapy water. Clean tools are the most important factor for beautiful, healthy lashes.

  • Give your lashes regular breaks

Your lashes appreciate a makeup-free day. This allows them to regenerate and remain flexible. On these days use a nourishing serum or oil to strengthen the structure. This “lash break” prevents hairs from breaking and, in the long term, provides more volume and shine.

  • Eat properly

Nutrition also plays a role in strong, long lashes. Biotin, zinc, iron and omega-3 fatty acids promote hair growth. Enough sleep, sufficient water and stress reduction further support regeneration. Combine your daily care with a healthy lifestyle — and your lashes will look visibly stronger and more radiant.

  • Did you know your lashes only grow actively for about 1 to 2 months? Afterwards they enter a resting phase and eventually fall out — just like leaves in autumn. Unlike scalp hair, which can grow for years, the lifespan of a lash is significantly shorter. That's why lash serums only have a lasting effect if applied regularly — they specifically extend the growth phase and thus help to optimise the natural cycle.
  • Average lash length is about 7 to 12 millimetres, but varies from person to person. Lashes protect the eyes from dust, dirt, sweat and other foreign particles by acting as a barrier.
